Welcome To Your Maternity Session
This session is not about knowing how to pose or what to do in front of the camera.
It’s about slowing down for a moment and celebrating this season you’re in.
You don’t need to “perform” or prepare in any perfect way. I’ll gently guide you the entire time so you can simply focus on being present—with yourself, your baby, and anyone you choose to bring along.
If your partner (or little ones) are joining, we’ll naturally include them in a way that feels relaxed and connected. And if it’s just you, we’ll lean into that too—creating something soft, powerful, and entirely your own.
We’ll move between moments that feel natural and documentary, and ones that are a little more artistic and intentional.
Think:
Your hands resting on your belly
A quiet pause, just breathing it all in
A dress moving with the wind
A gentle connection - whether that’s with your baby, your partner, or simply yourself.
That’s where the magic is.
Location & Light
We’ll choose a location with beautiful natural light and a calm, open atmosphere.
You can explore my location guide here:
LOCATION GUIDE
Most sessions take place outdoors - whether that’s a meadow, beach, or another spot that feels aligned. The goal is always the same: soft light, space to move, and a setting that allows you to relax into the moment.
You’re also very welcome to suggest a location that isn’t on the guide. If there’s a place that feels meaningful to you, I’m always open to exploring new spots together.
✨ Studio Sessions
My studio in downtown Squamish is also a beautiful option for maternity sessions. It offers soft natural light, a minimal and intimate setting, and allows us to create something a little more artistic and refined. If you’re drawn to a more cozy and/or editorial feel, this might be the perfect fit.
If the weather isn’t cooperating, we can either reschedule to another date with better conditions or move your session to the studio - whatever feels best for you.
What to Wear
The goal is to feel like yourself - just a little elevated.
Flowy, soft pieces photograph beautifully because they add movement and softness to your images.
Think:
Soft neutrals and earthy tones (white, beige, brown, sage, dusty pink, baby blue)
Lightweight fabrics like cotton or linen
Dresses that move with the wind
If you’re including your partner, aim for tones that complement rather than match.
And most importantly - choose something you feel good in. That always translates more than the outfit itself.
If you’d like help deciding, I’m always happy to guide you.
Client Closet
You are always welcome to use my client closet, free of charge.
For moms, I have a selection of soft, flowy dresses that photograph beautifully and are chosen to flatter postpartum bodies while helping you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera - without the stress of finding something new to wear.
I also have simple, timeless pieces for babies, such as soft wraps, knit outfits, and neutral pieces that photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your baby.
How The Session Usually Flows
Every baby is different, but sessions usually unfold gently in this order:
1. Baby settles first
After your baby is fed, I’ll gently wrap your them in a soft, snug swaddle and spend a little time rocking and soothing them to sleep. This helps babies feel safe and cozy, and allows them to relax into a deep sleep for the photos.
This is also a beautiful moment for you to take a breath. Becoming parents is intense, and the days can feel like a blur of feeding, changing, and very little rest. While I settle the baby, I always encourage parents to sit down, relax, and take a small moment for themselves. Have a sip of coffee (if I haven’t offered you one - please ask me for one - sometimes I get so carried away by the babies’ cuteness I forget things like this :D ), sit on the couch, or just pause for a minute. There is nothing you need to do during this time - I’ve got the baby.
2. Photos with mom and baby
Once baby is settled and sleepy, we’ll begin with photos of you and your baby. These are often the most emotional and meaningful images.
3. Photos with dad and baby
Next, we’ll capture some quiet, tender moments between dad and baby.
4. Family photos
After parent-baby portraits, we’ll capture relaxed family photos together. The whole family, parents and baby, enjoying this moment.
5. Family photos with siblings
If there are older siblings, we’ll include a few family photos of all of you together. After that, dad can take the sibling for a little break (they can do stickers or colouring in my office room), giving them time to play and relax. They can return later for some more sibling photos once the baby has finished their solo portraits. These moments often capture the sweetest interactions and beginnings of sibling bonds.
6. Baby’s solo portraits
Once family photos are done, we’ll focus on your baby alone. During this time, I’ll gently pose them and capture all the tiny details - little fingers, toes, eyelashes… I do not perform elaborate or complicated swaddling techniques - everything is kept natural and very lightly posed, so your baby stays comfortable and safe while we capture these early moments.
A Gentle Reminder
Your baby does not need to be “perfect” for photos.
Babies cry. Babies need to eat. Babies need cuddles. All of that is normal, and I work with it every day.
Some of the most beautiful images happen in the quiet in-between moments - rocking, feeding, holding your baby close.
This session is not about perfection.
It’s about remembering what these first days felt like.
I’m truly honoured to step into your home and document this moment in your family’s story.
After The Session
Once the session is complete, I’ll carefully pack up and leave your home just as we found it - calm, cozy, and full of memories captured.
Photo Package & Delivery:
Your session fee includes the Classic Package with 15 images. Within 4 weeks after the session, you’ll receive access to an online gallery where you can view all your images and select your favourites.

I can’t wait to photograph your family and capture these special first moments together.
